ugh my first strategy tip post. I'm going to try to avoid what I perceive is the chief and almost universal fault of player strategy guides: cryptic abbreviations strew with such abandon that only someone who's already spent 100 hours playing the game can understand advice intended for fresh players.
Been playing Dark Elves for a while and thought up some stuff to write down. At press time the Tribe has just been released so most of what I'm gonna say here is for versus Council or Dwarves.
major strategies
THE TOWER OF DEATH
This is the most reliably successful strategy that I always try to start a game with (deck draw pending of course).
Get a necro, gear him up (at least a weapon), and plant him on an attack power square in friendly territory. Next get an Impaler near him, a Priestess behind him, and wait for enemies to approach mid-field. Use the Impaler to pull enemies in range of the empowered Necro and have him rip their heads off. Standard attack turn is:
1. move Impaler up
2. shoot/pull with Impaler
3. attack with Necro
4. attack with Necro
5. raise enemy corpse with Necro
You'll be left with a spirit covering the Impaler from an attack, but she'll still probably be very exposed and won't see another turn. For this reason I recommend leaving your Impalers naked. The enemy units you pull in for slaughter will usually be geared up or even Supers, and you want to make the trade as uneven as you can. If your Impaler doesn't get stomped, just rez her and use her to pull in whatever just killed her.
Eventually your foe will cede you field dominance and you can start harassing his crystal for the win.
THE UNSTOPPABLE WRAITH
This strategy works well when you've gotten beat up fiercely in the early game and want to make a comeback. You're probably facing some geared hit & run Archers or Annihilators that are doing more damage each turn that you can possibly recover from but leaving un-stomped friendlies around a lot.
Get a Wraith out and have him start consuming all your dead units while staying tucked safely in back. Fully gear up your Wraith and drop a few mass-target Soul Harvests to start buffing him up. Eventually he'll hit at least 1360 HP and you're good to go. Kill and stomp all enemy max firepower units (weaponized Archers, Gunners, Annihilators) at any cost (except your Wraith of course). You've now pretty much won the game. At 1360+ HP and with enemy peak firepower gone, your Wraith (probably) cannot be killed and stomped in one turn by anything your opponent can field, allowing you to run around with impunity (assuming you have at least one Soul Harvest/Priestess left to rez him).
DO NOT LOSE YOUR WRAITH. Always assume your enemy has some crazy damage stuff in his hand. I doubt this strategy will work well against Tribe, since they always have crazy damage haha.
THE MONK OF DISASTER
This strategy works well when your opponent doesn't have enough DPS to trade units and is just trying to harass you. Dark elves make ideal harassment targets because they only heal well while going toe to toe, so you might find yourself in these games fairly often.
Gear up a Void Monk and get a couple other classes near him for support and distraction. Run straight up to the biggest group of enemies you can find and punch them in the face. A weaponized Void Monk hitting 3-4 units does insane damage, though you won't be KOing any enemies at first. Your opponent will have to make a choice between:
-hitting back at the Void Monk, taking all turn to kill/stomp him but leaving 3-4 of his own units grievously injured to be finished off by your Impalers/Necros and giving you a decisive advantage
-healing up but leaving the Void Monk alive, allowing him to continue to punch the hell out of them next turn, critically wearing down their healers/crystals.
This works especially well against Council, because Archers have to waste a turn running if they want to shoot at something in melee range and Wizards waste most of their damage potential if they're shooting a lone crazed fighter dude.
THE DOUBLE PRIESTESS
This is what happens when you mess up or get nailed with something nasty- just a few Priestesses against the world. Use the Priestess debuffs to slowly wear down the enemy and keep themselves alive. Anticipate your opponent's moves, debuff accordingly, and, provided his own peak firepower guys are gone, you should be able to win a battle of attrition.
